# Reaction styles for categories

Forum posts show emoji reactions, likes or votes, based on the mode the server sets.

-   Forum cards show the reaction controls that the server configuration picks.
-   The web app shows the mode, but it has no control to change it.
-   Moderators can pin important topics and close a thread when a discussion needs to end.

The web app has no way to pick the reaction mode. The mode comes from the server API.

For each topic, the list shows its category, tags, replies, views, participants and emoji reactions.
